Is SaleDesk compatible with HMRC Making Tax Digital (MTD)?
Yes. SaleDesk keeps your VAT records digitally as MTD requires, and produces VAT-return-ready summaries that you or your accountant can submit through MTD-compatible bridging software. We guide you through setup free of charge.
Do I need to buy new hardware?
Most likely not. SaleDesk runs on your existing computer or tablet, and supports most thermal printers, barcode scanners, cash drawers and customer displays common in the UK market.
What happens if my internet goes down?
You keep selling as usual. Offline mode stores transactions securely on your device, and everything syncs automatically once connectivity returns.
Can you migrate my data from my old system?
Yes. Our team imports your items, customers and stock balances from Excel files or your legacy system — free with your subscription — so you're ready the same day.
Is my business data secure?
Absolutely. Data is encrypted in transit and at rest, backed up continuously, and handled in line with UK GDPR. You control exactly what each staff member can see and do.

Does the web store use the same stock as the till?
Yes. The public storefront reads SaleDesk inventory, so online and in-store sales draw from one stock record.
Which marketplaces do you support?
Shopify, eBay, WhatsApp Shop, Amazon, OnBuy, Meta Shops and TikTok Shop are available. Stock stays in SaleDesk, and orders land in Marketplace Orders.
Is WhatsApp Shop the same as Marketing WhatsApp?
No. WhatsApp Shop is catalogue and shopping under Marketplaces. Marketing WhatsApp is a separate add-on for outbound order updates and campaigns.
Do you send SMS and email from SaleDesk’s own servers?
You connect your providers — for example Twilio, Vonage, FireText, your SMTP, SendGrid or Mailgun. SaleDesk routes the messages. You keep the credentials and you pay the provider.
Can customers track orders without logging in?
Yes. Order notifications can include a private tracking link to the storefront status page. No account is required.
Will promotional messages go to every customer?
Campaigns only target customers with a mobile or email on file, and you choose the filters. Promotional sends may require consent under local rules, including UK PECR.
